HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY MASSAGE? First it’s a good idea to have a clean body when you come. A shower or bath if you feel its necessary is recommended. If you have worked at the office all day, I am sure that’s fine, but if you’ve just spent two hours in the garden or just did your 3 mile run that’s another story. Excessive sweat and dirt is distracting to both of us and makes giving 100% during the massage more challenging. Next, always come a few minutes early, that way we can have a few minutes to talk. Besides, being on time early means more time on the table for you and that’s always nice.

DO I UNDRESS COMPLETELY, EVEN MY UNDERWEAR? The most important thing is that you are comfortable and at ease. You can know without hesitation that I will always respect and protect your modesty. As you receive your massage you are always covered with a sheet and the areas we work on are uncovered as needed.

If leaving underwear on help you feel better, that’s great. However, most people choose to be nude. The reason for this is clothing interrupts the flow of massage treatment, and especially makes work on the hips more challenging. So, do what you feel, and if you choose to be nude, have no fear, I will always keep you covered…always.

HOW CAN I GET THE MOST FROM MY MASSAGE? This is your time. Time to RELAX, RESTORE, and REJUVENATE yourself.

At the beginning of your session we may talk a bit to build the rapport between us and open the communication, But ideally a lot of chatting isn’t necessary.

Together we tune in and go on a journey inside your body. Therefore, we want attention to be focused inwardly, not outwardly. When your attention is focused on the area being treated, and on what your therapist is doing this awareness will in turn enhance the massage and feed back to your therapist. As we work on your troublesome area, bring your awareness to your “breathing”. Visualize deep breaths into that area of tension, soreness, or “holding” and feel when it releases.

Don’t try to “help” your therapist. If he should need to position your body, he will. If he wants you to move in certain way he will give that gentle instruction. The point is to be “in your body” and “feel” instead of being in your head. The more that you surrender yourself to the experience of simply receiving, the more you will relax, and the more benefit you will gain.

Never hesitate to communicate. Nobody knows your body like you. Your verbal cues about what your feeling help to guide the work. Whether it’s the acknowledgement of the gentle stretching of a muscle, the soreness you sense in a given area, or the expression of oohs and aahs of a particular move that felt wondrous..all of it elevates the work to a higher level for you.

Communication even in silence is how we perfect the harmonious dance of awesome ELITE bodywork.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER A MASSAGE? Sometimes circumstances dictate that you have to go “back into your day” and not be able to “just chill” that’s okay. You won’t lose the benefit that we have accomplished together. Ultimately you want the massage to help raise your awareness of what your body needs. Maybe you realize tight areas that need you to develop a habit of stretching..I will guide you to that path, and then you simply do that.

Perhaps you will intuitively learn what repetitive strains are present in your life, and you can adjust those accordingly too.

One thing that is synonymous with good massage aftercare is WATER. If our bodys’ are 80% water it is only logical to get more than enough following your treatment in order to flush out all the unpleasant waste and impurities that we have just flushed out of your muscles. Get into the habit of hydrating your body well and you will feel good in all areas, especially after therapeutic massage.

If you are able, the evening of your massage, a good, long, hot soak or shower, or hot tub will most definitely end the day right. You will have regenerative, uninterrupted sleep like a happy, content baby.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RECEIVE MASSAGE? If your budget allows, you could get a massage everyday! In the days of ancient kings and queens they were massaged whenever they felt like it. Oh, for the ability for us all to treat ourselves like royalty.. even on a budget. The answer is different for each person. Every couple weeks or once a month is common, however if we are focusing on troublesome areas or injury rehabilitation a frequency of once, even twice a week until those challenges are overcome can be a very good idea.

If we are performing deeper work, at least a few days in between treatments can better help you integrate the changes felt in your body.

To maintain well balanced, good health, and keep you in tune mind, body, and spirit schedule your sessions as often as you are able. Once again, once or twice a month can do wonders for you.

IS MASSAGE COVERED BY INSURANCE? Yes. There are insurance companies that allow massage as part of a wellness plan. It depends on your particular plan. Most often what is covered is treatment that is prescribed by medical professionals (i.e. M.D.s’ and Chiropractors) for injuries sustained in accidents..auto accidents.

I am happy that I have opportunity to work together with several of these professionals and have helped numerous people with whiplash syndromes, and torqued backs to find relief and healing through rehabilitative style bodywork.

I also save my clients the headache by personally billing the insurance claims.

CAN I GIVE MASSAGE AS A GIFT TO SOMEONE? ABSOLUTLELY! I have gift certificates available for purchase here on my website. I do recommend that you know with reasonable certainty that your gift recipient is open to receiving massage. You may think they would love it…they may have some harbored reservations, So find out first. Then surprise them.

What a better way to show someone that you care than by giving them the gift of touch with ELITE massage. You will both be thrilled that you did.
